Experience the wonder of an exceptional sailing itinerary around the Balearic islands crafted just for you.
A catamaran charter in Spain opens up some of the clearest water and liveliest island life in the Mediterranean. The Balearic Islands of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera lie just off the Spanish east coast, and together they offer hundreds of coves, sandy beaches and charming harbour towns within easy sailing distance. As a result, you can mix quiet swims in turquoise bays with vibrant evenings ashore, all in a single week.
Moreover, catamarans are ideal for these waters. Their shallow draft lets you anchor close to the beach, while two hulls keep the boat steady and give every guest plenty of space on deck and in the cabins. Whether you dream of the beach clubs of Ibiza, the mountain scenery of Mallorca or the calm, unspoilt coves of Menorca, a Spain catamaran charter lets you explore at your own pace. If you are still comparing destinations, you can also look at our catamaran charters in Greece, Croatia and Italy.
In general, the price of a catamaran rental in Spain depends on the yacht’s size and age, the charter base, the season, the length of the trip and the charter format. For example, a week in July or August costs considerably more than the same yacht in May or late September, when the weather is still warm and the islands are quieter.
| Charter Type | Typical Weekly Price (from) |
| Bareboat or skippered catamaran | from €3,000 |
| Fully crewed luxury catamaran | from €10,000 |
In addition, budget for extras such as a skipper or hostess fee, provisioning, fuel, marina or mooring fees, final cleaning and, on crewed yachts, an advance provisioning allowance (APA).
Our Spain fleet includes bareboat, skippered and crewed catamarans based in Ibiza, Mallorca and across the Balearic Islands, so we can match the right yacht to your group size and budget.
Above all, the Balearics reward flexible planning, because the islands sit close enough to combine two or three of them in one catamaran charter in Spain. Your exact route will depend on the base, the length of your trip and the wind direction.
Ibiza is famous for its nightlife, yet it also hides peaceful coves such as Cala d’Hort, facing the dramatic rock of Es Vedrà. Just to the south, Formentera offers white sand and shallow, Caribbean-like water at Ses Illetes. In fact, the seagrass meadows between the two islands form part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For this reason, local rules prohibit anchoring on the seagrass, and skippers drop anchor on sand or use buoys instead.
Mallorca, the largest island, combines the lively capital of Palma with the cliffs of the Serra de Tramuntana and the sheltered coves of the east coast. Furthermore, the protected Cabrera archipelago south of Mallorca offers some of the most pristine anchorages in Spain, although you need a permit to stay overnight on its mooring buoys.
Menorca is the quietest of the main islands and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Here, you can sail between the historic harbours of Mahón and Ciutadella and swim at beaches such as Cala Macarella and Cala Turqueta. Finally, our Balearic Islands page lists catamarans that can take you on a longer island-hopping route across the whole archipelago.
Generally, the season for a catamaran charter in Spain runs from late April to October, with warm temperatures and long, sunny days for most of that period.
Spring (April–May): mild weather, green landscapes and quiet anchorages; the sea is still cool, but prices are lower and marinas are less busy.
Early Summer (June): hot days, warmer water and lively towns before the main holiday rush, which makes it one of the best-value months.
Peak Summer (July–August): the busiest time, with the warmest sea, packed beach clubs and the highest demand for yachts; we recommend booking several months ahead.
Autumn (September–October): warm water, softer light and fewer crowds, so many experienced sailors consider September the ideal month.
However, the northerly Tramontana wind can blow strongly, particularly around Menorca, so your skipper may switch to the sheltered side of an island when needed.
First of all, most yachts available for a catamaran charter in Spain come equipped with bed linen, towels and a fully fitted galley, so you mainly need personal items. Bring a soft bag rather than a hard suitcase, because it is much easier to store in a cabin.
Pack lightweight, breathable clothing for hot days, swimwear, a light jumper for breezy evenings and a smarter outfit if you plan to dine in Palma or Ibiza Town. Non-slip shoes with light soles work best on deck, while sandals are perfect for beaches and towns.
Finally, remember high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, a waterproof phone case and any personal medication. A reusable water bottle and your own snorkel mask will also make your days at anchor even more enjoyable.
